Magical girl in the Wild West. It’s something I’ve wanted to try out for a while. I’m not satisfied with the overall result, but that’s because this is just the first draft.

Minor things changed along the way. One is that originally Jesse’s gang kidnapped Clover and Shamrock, taking Clover’s wand. Somehow this ended up becoming the “Injuns” kidnapping. I might switch this back to the original idea in the next draft.

Another change is that Kid was originally going to be “Billy”, and Billy and the “Injun Princess” were going to be about seven years old. I decided to go closer to teenagers, although Kid probably comes out sounding more like a young adult. This is only a rough draft, of course.

    Story Progress

There’s still so much potential for this arc! So many kinds of nightmares to visit! I have two planned chapters to have happen (and I wish they weren’t back-to-back), so I’ll have to use them both tomorrow so I can transition from arc one to arc two of the story around day 10.

Day nine and day 10 are over the weekend, and my planned writing schedule is weekdays only, so this means I should have arc one wrapped up by Friday. This gives me…two more chapters. That will finish the arc, but transition content will delay arc two from starting.

    NaNoWriMo Goals

With these 2,336 words, I’m totallying 15,164 words. That’s past the 30% mark! 30% of 30 days is nine, meaning I’m two days ahead of a reasonable NaNoWriMo daily goal. Going by my originally planned 2,500 words a day, I should be seeing 10,000 words by now. Things continue to look up for me!
