Wow, what do I say after writing 2,109 words, and that following an earier session of 1,602 words?

Today I’ve written 3,711 words, and only stopped for a pre-arranged Mario Kart Wii session online earlier, than for dinner and to get ready for bed tonight. Maybe I should take a day off one of these Wednesdays (my “easy” day at work), so I can write all day? There is Thanksgiving day, but my older brother and his family will be visiting that day. (It’d be nice if my younger brother would visiting along with them, but that has nothing to do with what’s about to happen for Sarah and Samuel!)

Okay, life drama aside. There’s been a huge increase in the side of the cast today! Not only has Arle returned, but we’ve seen her sister. We’ve been introduced to two attendants. And we’ve also met a slave. Not only that, but there’s a ton of world-building going on, without stooping down so low as to be explaining or outright telling how it the world works.

Has it been that long already? My, how time flies! Five years have passed us right by! Don’t tell that to Burr and Alfalfa, though. They had a lot of unwritten struggles during that time away from their families and friends.

One problem I’ve had is that my very young characters have been too “mature”. In some cases, maturity-beyond-age is warranted, but not as far as I’ve taken it, as much as I’ve pushed it. Later draftings can fix this, but now my two youngest character to deal with (Sarah and Arle) are 11 years old. I’ll probably still have to tone down their maturity in a later draft, but I’ll feel much more comfortable writing for them now. Well, Arle wasn’t that hard to write for before, as she had so little paragraph time, and her first appearance had very little dialogue.

    NaNoWriMo Goals

Did I mention yet the 2,109 words I wrote in this chapter? Okay, so four others have been longer. I’m okay with that. You can tell by this chapter’s ending that I wanted to add more. I might even add in that 24 hour period in a later draft. For now, I’m ready to start out arc two Monday morning.

Anyone writing NaNoWriMo on the “write every day” schedule should be at 15,000 words by midnight tonight. By my “weekdays only” schedule, I should be at 12,500 words (as of Friday night, considering no writing over the weekend). My current total? 21,226 words (42.5%). I am overjoyed.
