This chapter didn’t meet my word count goal, nor did it come out as well as I had hoped.
The original concept I thought of in October went like this: Dream after dream, Clover messes up in some way. Shamrock is always there to bail her out, such a stronger mastery of dream magic. Clover’s doubts in her own ability manifest into Dark Clover. Dark Clover comes from the green jewel, and she pulls Sarah into the Dream Mirror. Because Sarah doesn’t have the green jewel, Shamrock is unable to track her with the mirror. (This completely misses Dark Clover having thre green jewel.)
I was off while writing this chapter due to being tired. I didn’t get to bed until 9PM (half an hour after my bed time), meaning I wasn’t thinking at my best. Also, I decide to turn off the laptop and rest my eyes a bit during the last 15 minutes of my mornining commute. That helped keep the word count down.
Originally, this chapter and the next one were meant to be separate. Sarah would have to come to grips with her insecurities that became Dark Clover. After doing this, Sarah becomes more confident as Clover, and becomes too confident. Things work out at first, but then the final chapter of this first arc arrives.
Because I’m putting these two chapters side-by-side during NaNoWriMo, I decided to connect them. This might change in a later draft, but for now it keeps the NaNoWriMo draft together. Now it’s a matter of how I’ll finish the arc while half-asleep…
NaNoWriMo Goals
Counting in at 1,123 words. I need 1,377 in the afternoon to reach my goal for the day. After yesterday, I can’t keep riding off if my boost from last weekend, unless I plan to write another 3,000 words over the upcoming weekend.
