“I am glad you have found me,” Ceciliate said to her two visitors. “I am attendant to Lady Piñole Alsike and Lady Arle Alsike, and to the Alsike family. My loyalty lies with them. However, I’ve heard many tales from Alfalfa’s great-great-great grandfather before he passed away about seven years ago. Burr and Alfalfa have already escorted Lady Piñole into the orange land, in search of the orange jewel. They’ll search until they find it, but I know very closely where the violet jewel is.
“When the red and yellow jewels were recovered, they were taken from dreams, but the jewels didn’t truly exist in those dreams. Burr use their dream representations to transport to the planets the jewels were hidden on, and obtain them that way. Using the jewels to transport to another planet via a dream is no problem for a Lucid Dream, what you call being a magical boy or girl. There are other ways to travel between Aureum and the other planets, but they are one-way transfers, unlike using the jewels that project one through dreams and across worlds.
“I will show you the way to the violet land, and tell you were to go to find the jewel. There’s a valley in the violet land which mirrors one on the violet planet. From there, you can pass directly to the violet planet, and locate the violet jewel.”
Ceciliate gathered a few items. She signaled for Sarah and Samuel to follow her.
At the edge of the violet land, the three stopped. The land looked barren, with violet sand, and a violet tint to the sky.
“Avoid the dreams,” Ceciliate warned, “for they’ll only slow you down. Those mountains over there contain a valley, one of the few places lush with nature outside of Aureum. There’s a dream-like essence there that’ll allow you to travel to the violet planet.”
Samuel thanked Ceciliate for her help. He and Sarah headed out through the dirt, across the plains. The journey didn’t take as long as expected, and the two found a path leading up and between two mountains. Inside the mountain-surrounded valley, they found the land of grass and trees, overabundant with fruits and exotic flowers.
“We’re here,” Sarah said. “Come on, let’s go. Gimme’ the green jewel.”
Samuel reached into his pocket. He felt for the two jewels, and slipped them in-between his fingers. Producing the two from his pocket, he handed the green jewel to Sarah. With their jewels, the two became Clover and Shamrock. They concentrated their jewels on thoughts of being in the true valley of the violet planet, and the vision around them faded away.
What faded in in place of the vast green was vast white. Snow covered the land, and a blizzard forced the magical two to huddle together as cold winds blasted against them.
“What happen?” Clover asked. “What went wrong? Where are we?”
Shamrock touched his earring with his fingers, and raised his other hand to the oncoming slow. “We’ll find out just as soon as I clear us a path. Let’s see some fire!” Fire ignited from before Shamrock’s hand, burning outward, against the wind. Just as quickly as it had appeared, the fire vanished.
Clover fell to her knees. “It’s too cold.”
“Wait,” Shamrock said. His earring glistened, and blue lights flashed around the two of them. A heavy jacket appeared around Shamrock’s body, but the light around Clover flickered, then vanished without producing anything. Shamrock quickly took off the coat, placing it around Clover, the coat’s color changing from blue to green. “We need to find shelter.”
“Speaking of finding,” a this voice said, “It looks like I’ve found a couple of magical kids.”
As Clover huddled against Shamrock’s side, Shamrock looked to see who addressed them. The heavy snow blowing through the strong winds obstructed his vision, but Shamrock could clearly see yellow winter clothing and yellow hair. The girl’s yellow eyes seemed to glow.
“I’ll take your jewels now, if you don’t mind.”
Shamrock looked around. He spotted a cave not too far away. He turned Clover to the cave, pointing it out to her. She nodded as her whole body shivered, and the two started walking to the cave, holding close on to one another.
“Where are you going?” the yellow-haired girl asked. “Don’t ignore me!”
His back to her, Shamrock said to the girl, “If you want to continue this, then join us in that cave. It’s too cold out here.”
Inside the cave, Shamrock set Clover against the wall. “I’ll start a fire.” In a blue flash of light, dried pieces of wood appeared. Shamrock tried to light them on fire, but each attempted fizzled out in a blue flicker.
“Is that all you can do?” the yellow-haired girl asked as she entered the cave.
“Arle?” Clover said in a low voice, looking up at the girl.
“My name isn’t Arle,” the girl said. “It’s Melilot. I’m a magical girl, and it’s my mission to save my kingdom by stopping the bad guys who are want to take over by collecting the Rainbow Jewels. If you hand over your jewels right now, I won’t hurt you.”
“Now really isn’t a good time,” Shamrock said, his back to the two as he tried to start even a tiny flame with his magic. “The only important thing right now is for us to start a fire, before we all freeze.”
“Step aside,” Melilot said as she walked up to Shamrock. She pushed him aside. She kneeled beside the wood, and touched the jewel on her anklet. “Let’s see fire on this wood.” A yellow light flashed over the wood, and fire appeared. Black flames climbed higher, then the fire died out. “This isn’t any good. Too much cold air is blowing in from outside.”
Melilot stood. She walked to the entrance to the cave. Looking outside, she said a few things to herself in the Aureumi language, before walking out into the snow.
“Where are you going?” Shamrock asked.
“I’m going to stop this snow,” Melilot said as she walked out of view, into the blizzard.
Shamrock hurried after. Outside, he watched a yellow glow surround Melilot. The light formed into a beam and shot into the sky. Yellow lights pulsated from Melilot’s body. Flashes of light appeared all around. The winds died down, and the sun peaked through the clouds. Melilot fell to the side, collapsing into the deep snow. Overhead, the clouds covered the sun again, and the wind picked up speed, forcing the falling snow into all directions.
Unable to see Melilot under the fresh snow piling over her, Shamrock reached into the snow. He felt for Melilot’s body, and pulled her up from the snow. He carried her back to the cave. Inside, he set her beside Clover.
Again, Shamrock tried to light the wood. His vision blurred, his fingers unable to feel the jewel on his earring. His breathing echoed through his ears, and Shamrock realized he’d fallen over. He looked over at Clover and Melilot. If she and Clover both were to wake up, Melilot would be left alone on in this cold save. Being from Aureum, what would happen to her, with no place to wake up to?
Everything faded into black.
