I took the last 164 words from the end of yesterday’s writing (after rewriting the nonsense, from being half-asleep while writing, out of them), and used that as the start for this morning’s writings, instead. It worked nicely to have a “chapter break” at this point.

  • Clover passed through the mirror. Shamrock and Chelia waited for her to join them. “Sorry I’m late,” she said as she greeted the two. “Do you have the yellow jewel?”

  • The sun started to lower in the sky to the west. Bernard watched it through the leaves and branches overhead. He looked south for a moment, at the distant palace, then back west again. In one hand he held the two jewels in his possession, one red, one orange. “How about… Macrae…”

  • AM words: 1,026. Under goal. There were some things in the vanpool that made it hard to work. If I keep up at this rate, I won’t reach 50,000 before Monday, or later. There’s a lot of room for increasing the length of the chapter by putting in a real confrontation between Clover and Melilot. PM words: 1,748. A bit better. Total words: 2,774.

  • Sarah walked around through Aureum. The town appeared a lot bigger and more complex without Samuel to talk with, an especially without anyone to act as a guide. She knew she could only reliably find the others by their jewels if she became Clover, but if she did that, there was no knowing how the people of Aureum would react to see her in that way.

  • In the green room, Chelia listened in as best she could to the distant conversation. The sound of a door closing snapped her out of her watch. She looked to the side, but found no one else in the room. “Is anyone there?” she asked.

1031 words in the morning. Sore left arm from lack of elbow space, and another problem in the vanpool, and I barely got any typing done. Too cold on the ride home. Kept falling aleep, with only 931 words written. Total: 1962 words.

  • “Show me Arle’s dream,” Clover said as she looked in the tall, wide mirror on the wall, holding her hands over her brooch. She looked at the far side of the mirror, where an oval piece had been cut out long ago. “I’m sure of it. Samuel’s mirror came from you. That mirror shows dreams and nightmares. I don’t remember it very well, but I know about the reflection.”

  • Ceciliate and Sarah reached the door to the off-limit rooms. During the past ten minutes, they hadn’t encountered anyone else.

I may be retconning a little, as I don’t recall what I may have said about the violet planet. The retconning here takes it to a place with perhaps more harsh cold environments than just the one where the violet jewel was recovered from. It’s retconned so there are few people on that planet, compared to a past population. It remains a world where somehow the cave on the planet holds the same plant-life and sunshine as the violet continent, a connection which may be made stronger in a later draft.
